Doncic, with his 2,508,618 votes, is ahead of Warriors guard Steph Curry (2,126,037) and Oklahoma City guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (1,763,671), who are in a three-way battle for the two starting guard spots in the West. Doncic’s co-star, Kyrie Irving, was fifth among West guards with 544,290 votes.

Among all players, Doncic was seventh in voting, behind Giannis Antetokounmpo (3,475,698), LeBron James (3,096,031), Joel Embiid (2,975,987), Jayson Tatum (2,939,663), Nikola Jokic (2,777,068), Kevin Durant (2,773,809).

Fans account for 50% of the vote to decide the All-Star starters. NBA players and a media panel each account for 25%.

Doncic had a historic December, averaging 37.5 points, 11.1 assists and 8.9 rebounds during the month. In the NBA’s 77-year history, the only other player to average at least 35 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds in a month (minimum 10 games) is Oscar Robertson, in Dec. 1960.

For the season, he’s averaging career-highs in scoring (33.6 ppg), assists (9.1), 3-point percentage (38%) and free throw percentage (77.8%). He’s also helped carry a Mavericks team that has dealt with numerous injuries to a 22-16 record.

In 22 games this year, Irving is averaging 23.9 points 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists while shooting 47.7% from the floor and 41.4% from three. Irving has been on a tear since returning from a right heel contusion that kept him out for 12 games. Over his last four games, he’s averaged over 30 points on 50% shooting from the floor and 50% shooting from three.

Doncic is a four-time All-Star and Irving has eight All-Star appearances.

The next update on fan voting will come next Thursday on Jan. 18.
